Our Review

Although Nickent may not be a household name like Callaway or Ping, this innovative company is really making impressive progress in the technological and aesthetic aspects of golf driver design. That’s why this club nearly makes it into our top 10 list, placing at number 11.

With the Nickent 3DX square driver, engineers adjusted the geometric shape of the club to move the center of gravity further back and lower in the club head to provide greater distance and a more optimal launch angle. The 3DX also repositions the weight around the corners of the club head producing greater stability and forgiveness for ball striking across the entire club face. The square shape produces a very high moment of impact (MOI) that keeps the club from twisting at impact. Better accuracy has been achieved through the use of proprietary Nickent technology called “Total Accuracy Control,” which optimally proportions the perimeter weighting of the club.

Engineers tested club accuracy and distance using the Iron Byron. (The Iron Byron is a mechanical testing device named after the late great Byron Nelson, whose swing was so consistent and perfect that many said only a mechanical man could replicate it. The USGA used the machine for many years to test clubs and balls for conformity standards. The Iron Byron’s swing is so consistent that the USGA said that it had to replace the center line of its test fairway every 2 years because of turf damage caused by golf balls landing in the same spot over and over again, between 1000 and 2000 times per day during the summer months.)
